The ticker ESC once identified Emeritus Corporation, a Seattle based operator of senior living communities that listed on the American Stock Exchange in 1995 and later migrated to the New York Stock Exchange in 2008. The company no longer exists as an independent public issuer. Brookdale Senior Living Inc. completed its acquisition of Emeritus in the summer of 2014 for an enterprise value of roughly $2.8 billion. The NYSE delisted the shares on July 30 of that year, ending more than a decade of continuous public market trading under the ESC symbol.

This report documents the finding that the ESC ticker is defunct. The last substantive periodic filings for the registrant were a quarterly report for the quarter ended March 31, 2014, followed by an annual report for the prior fiscal year. The registrant is identified in the EDGAR system by Commission file number 1001604. No periodic report has been filed since, and the ticker does not appear in the current SEC company tickers file. The brief instructs that a defunct ticker warrants a note report documenting the finding, which is what follows. The absence of any new filing activity for over twelve years confirms the terminal status of the registrant.
