CVD Equipment Corporation emerges from the second quarter of this year as a smaller, cash-rich, debt-free shell of its former three-segment self. A single quarter redefined the equity story for this sub-$50M-market-cap industrial. The April 1 closing of the Stainless Design Concepts divestiture to a subsidiary of the Atlas Copco Group delivered $17.4M of gross proceeds. After taxes and transaction expenses, net cash to the balance was approximately $15.7M. Stockholders' equity stood at $24.7M at the 2025 year-end. It stepped to $36.0M by the close of the most recent quarter. Zero long-term debt and a $23.5M cash position frame the rebuild.

That rebuild turned a previously negative accumulated-deficit balance into a positive retained earnings figure over six months. Reported Q2 net income of $12.6M is dominated by a $13.9M gain from discontinued operations. The figure does not represent operating earnings power. The underlying equipment business generated a $1.4M loss from continuing operations on $2.0M of revenue. The accounting optics flatter a franchise that is still contracting.

The forward debate rests on four named variables. First, whether the CVD Equipment division stabilizes after two years of declining bookings. Q2 bookings totaled $1.2M. One PowderCoat 450 system order was worth approximately $0.8M. Second, whether the silicon-carbide equipment platform achieves commercial traction. Third, the deployment of the $23.5M cash hoard. Fourth, post-quarter event risk from a customer bankruptcy filing that placed one $0.8M order into question.

CVV trades at $6.57 per share. The share price sits against a $5.19 book value, near 1.3x book. An enterprise value of roughly $22.2M sits below the $23.5M cash pile. The market is pricing the equipment franchise at close to nothing. The asymmetry reduces to whether management deploys the proceeds into a value-creating use over the coming twelve months.
