Corpay, a long-established fleet-card operator, is recasting itself as a broader corporate-payments and spend-management platform. The second-quarter print shows the rotation delivering at scale, with revenue climbing 21% year over year. Organic growth has now run in the double digits for a fifth consecutive quarter. Adjusted EBITDA reached $767M and produced a margin in the high-fifties, a level few payments peers match on a sustained basis. Stripped of the FTC charge and the maintenance-business gain, the quarter's adjusted EPS grew 36% from a year ago. That figure is the most relevant signal for franchise trackers, even as the headline net-income number looks weaker on the page.
The investment-relevant shift is segment mix. Corporate Payments climbed to 41% of consolidated revenue, up from 35% in the prior-year quarter. Vehicle Payments receded to 43% from 46% in the same comparison. Lodging Payments moved to 9% from 11%. That rotation narrows the legacy fuel-card concentration that defined Corpay since the FleetCor era. The rotation also lifts the structural growth profile of the consolidated franchise. The franchise combines mid-teens organic expansion with premium payments margins and an aggressive capital-return cadence. The setup frames Corpay as a corporate-payments compounder with cross-border optionality. The share price already reflects much of that thesis today, with the stock sitting within striking distance of the fifty-two week high.
Three near-term swing factors warrant attention from any new investor building a position today. The first is fuel-price sensitivity, where management estimates roughly 6% of revenue still ties directly to retail diesel and gasoline levels through percentage-based fee economics. The second is the FTC matter, where a preliminary $100M settlement is subject to customary approval and could land at a different final number. The third is leverage, with $10.6B of total debt against $10.2B of cash and restricted cash on the balance sheet, where the bulk of the cash side is restricted for securitization investors and customer deposits. Each factor is knowable rather than binary. The updated full-year guidance of $27.15 to $27.55 in adjusted EPS suggests management sees clear air through year-end and into the next fiscal cycle.
