Cadence Design Systems is a leading electronic design automation (EDA) and semiconductor IP company and the only provider with agentic AI solutions spanning the full electronic system design flow, and the question for the next twelve months is whether the company can sustain the AI-driven design tools and IP momentum as the semiconductor design TAM expands with the AI infrastructure buildout. The Q2 2026 print was the cleanest test yet of that thesis, and the cleanest signal is that the company raised its 2026 revenue outlook to 19 percent year over year growth at the midpoint, raised 2026 non-GAAP EPS to $8.10, raised 2026 operating cash flow to $2 billion, and the record $8.1 billion quarter-end backlog. The combination of the $1.584 billion of Q2 2026 revenue up 24.2 percent year over year, the 28.4 percent Q2 2026 GAAP operating margin up 940 basis points year over year, the 45.5 percent Q2 2026 non-GAAP operating margin up 270 basis points year over year, the $1.33 Q2 2026 GAAP diluted net income per share up 125 percent year over year, the $2.11 Q2 2026 non-GAAP diluted net income per share up 28 percent year over year, the $8.1 billion record quarter-end backlog, the $4.2 billion of revenue expected to be recognized in the next 12 months from remaining performance obligations, the launch of AuraStack AI Super Agent (the industry's first agentic AI platform for advanced packaging and PCB), the IP revenue growth of more than 40 percent year over year, the Core EDA revenue growth of 18 percent year over year, the Hardware adding 12 new customers, the System Design and Analysis revenue growth of 37 percent year over year, the strong early traction for the AI Super Agents portfolio, the Star IP portfolio agreement with Intel, the additional wins with leading semiconductor companies, the AI portfolio expanded adoption across hyperscalers, and the continued integration of the Hexagon DE business is the cleanest single read on what the agentic-AI pivot is producing. The strategic tension is the AI infrastructure buildout cycle against the agentic AI platform competition and the broader semiconductor design cycle, and the forward question is whether the company can sustain the 19 percent revenue growth and the $2 billion operating cash flow as the foundation for the next leg of the agentic-AI pivot.
