Atmus Filtration Technologies has emerged from its 2024 spin-off from Cummins as a focused, profitable, and increasingly acquisitive player in the global filtration industry. The company designs, manufactures, and sells air, fuel, hydraulic, lube, and coolant filtration products for diesel engines and related industrial applications, with a portfolio anchored by its long-standing role as the primary filtration supplier to Cummins' on-highway and off-highway engine platforms. That captive relationship provides a stable base of recurring demand, while a growing presence with global truck, construction, agricultural, and industrial OEMs adds diversification across geographies and end markets.

The second quarter of fiscal 2026, ending June 30, 2026, illustrated both the resilience and the accelerating momentum of the business. Net sales reached $527.9 million, an increase of 16.4% from $453.5 million in the prior-year quarter, driven by a combination of organic volume growth, pricing actions, and the contribution from the November 2025 acquisition of Koch Filter Corporation. The acquisition added a complementary industrial and commercial filtration product line and meaningfully expanded Atmus' addressable market beyond its traditional heavy-duty diesel base. First-half net sales totaled $1,005.4 million, up from $870.0 million a year earlier, putting the company on a path for another year of double-digit revenue growth.

Profitability remained robust. Net income for the quarter came in at $112.3 million, an increase from $104.6 million in the comparable 2025 period. The improvement reflects operating leverage on the higher sales base, favorable mix, and continued cost discipline. The combination of mid-teens top-line growth and double-digit profit growth suggests that Atmus is converting incremental demand into incremental margin, despite ongoing input cost volatility and continued investments in manufacturing capacity, automation, and product development. Margin performance benefits from a value-engineered production footprint, ongoing automation initiatives, and a culture of continuous improvement inherited from decades inside the Cummins manufacturing system.

The balance sheet remained healthy at the quarter's end. Cash and cash equivalents stood at $259.0 million, providing ample liquidity to fund the Koch Filter integration, support ongoing capital expenditures, and consider further bolt-on M&A. Trade receivables of $368.0 million and inventories of $297.0 million reflect the seasonality and working capital intensity of an industrial OEM supply business, but the ratios to sales appear consistent with prior periods and the company's stated working capital targets. Net debt remains modest relative to earnings power, and the cash position provides flexibility to navigate cyclical demand swings while continuing to invest in growth.

Strategically, the Koch Filter deal marks a meaningful pivot. Until late 2025, Atmus operated as a pure-play heavy-duty diesel filtration company with a strong but concentrated customer base. The acquisition of Koch Filter, a Louisville-based manufacturer of air filtration products for industrial, commercial, and indoor air quality applications, immediately added new product categories, a new set of distributors and end customers, and a more diversified revenue base. Koch's product line is complementary rather than overlapping, and cross-selling opportunities into Atmus' existing OEM relationships, particularly in data center cooling and industrial air handling, represent a meaningful incremental growth vector in coming years. The combination reshapes the business mix toward less cyclical end markets and broadens exposure to secular tailwinds in electrification, digital infrastructure, and indoor air quality.

The investment case for Atmus rests on several pillars. First, the company owns market-leading positions in heavy-duty engine filtration categories, supported by long-tenured engineering relationships with global engine OEMs and a deep installed base in the field. Second, the Cummins relationship, while concentrated, is contractual and long-term, providing visibility into a baseline level of demand. Third, the diversification path through Koch Filter, combined with an active new-business pipeline in both on- and off-highway applications, offers a credible path to sustained mid-to-high single-digit organic revenue growth on top of which M&A contributions can be layered. Fourth, the company carries a value-engineered manufacturing footprint that has historically produced strong return on invested capital and free cash flow conversion.

Risks to the thesis include exposure to heavy-duty truck and off-highway end markets, which are cyclical and sensitive to freight rates, construction activity, and agricultural commodity prices. The Cummins concentration is also a double-edged sword: it provides stability but ties a meaningful portion of revenue to a single customer's engine production volumes. Integration risk on the Koch Filter deal, currency translation exposure given global manufacturing and sales, and ongoing material cost volatility in steel, media, and adhesives also bear watching. The current valuation reflects the market's appreciation of the story, with shares trading at a multiple that already prices in significant execution on the diversification and growth plan.

The Q2 2026 result, with revenue acceleration to 16.4% growth and net income advancing to $112.3 million, underscores the operating leverage in the model. The Koch Filter integration, while still in its early stages, broadens the addressable market, while the $259.0 million cash position supports continued investment in capacity, automation, and bolt-on M&A. Atmus trades as a focused industrial filtration franchise with leadership in heavy-duty diesel, a growing industrial air filtration presence, and a track record of profitable execution.
