Aprea Therapeutics spent the second quarter of fiscal 2026 doing the two things a clinical-stage precision-oncology microcap is supposed to do: it generated a small, real signal of single-agent activity, and it locked in the cash to keep going. The signal is two confirmed partial responses in the ongoing Phase 1 ACESOT-1051 trial of oral WEE1 inhibitor APR-1051, both in patients with PPP2R1A-mutated endometrial cancer - the first at the 150 mg dose level with a 50% reduction in target lesion size and a CA-125 drop from 732 to 70 U/mL, the second at 220 mg with a 50% reduction confirmed at a second imaging assessment and CA-125 from 362 to 40.2 U/mL. The cash is $41.2 million as of June 30, 2026, up from $14.6 million at year-end 2025, after a $30.0 million March 2026 PIPE that closed inside the quarter and which management says is sufficient to fund operations into the first quarter of 2028. The loss for the quarter was $3.6 million, or $0.07 per share, on a heavier 53.5 million weighted-average share count; cash flow from operations was a $6.0 million use for the half, modestly better than the $6.8 million use a year ago.
The market, however, is not yet rewarding the package. The stock closed the day of the report at $0.66, inside a 52-week band of $0.55 to $1.79, and with 12.4 million basic shares outstanding - a basic market capitalization of roughly $8 million against a $41 million treasury. Aprea is, in the most literal sense, a stock that trades below its cash: gross cash of $41.3 million plus $0.04 million in restricted cash, less $3.1 million of total liabilities and $0.7 million of redeemable convertible preferred, leaves net cash of roughly $37.5 million against a basic equity value of about $8 million. Adding in the 41.1 million pre-funded warrants exercisable at $0.001 (which the company already counts as common-equivalent for earnings-per-share purposes) widens the fully-diluted equity value to about $35 million, and the negative enterprise value compresses to about negative $5 million. The thesis is the clinical signal plus the cash; the trade is whether the fourth-quarter 2026 data update - when management expects to report the next ACESOT-1051 update, including at least 50 patients with uterine serous carcinoma or cyclin E-overexpressing platinum-resistant ovarian cancer, at active sites expanding from three to ten - moves the multiple on either side of the printed evidence.
