Airship AI arrived at its second fiscal quarter two and a half years removed from a blank-check merger and one year removed from the worst year in its public life. The Redmond, Washington maker of edge AI video and data-management systems for public safety spent fiscal 2025 absorbing a federal spending contraction that cut revenue by a third and sent the shares from a 52-week high near $7.20 in October 2025 to a low of about $1.71 in the final week of July 2026. The second quarter is the clearest sign yet that the slog has turned: net revenue rose 92% year over year to $4.12 million, gross profit rose 102% to $3.09 million at a 75% gross margin, and operating cash flow turned positive for the half. The company shrank the operating loss, collected past-due receivables, and closed the quarter with $12.4 million of cash and no debt.
The engine behind the turn is funding, and funding looks resolved. A substantial majority of revenue comes from federal law-enforcement and homeland-security customers, and the 2025 slump was corporate-governance-spending uncertainty hitting government procurement. In June 2026 the Secure America Act and the One Big Beautiful Bill appropriated the relevant mission areas through fiscal 2029 - multi-year certainty the company called the missing variable. Backlog stood at $6.9 million as of August 6, nearly all of it expected to ship and invoice in the third quarter, against a validated pipeline management sized at $206 million across the next 18 to 24 months. The stated goal is cash-flow-positive operations by the end of 2026.
The tension is real and it is the report's spine. This is still a micro-cap trading near its 52-week low with negative stockholders' equity, revenue that is lumpy and largely transactional - roughly 75% of a quarter's revenue is recognized in that same quarter - and five customers representing 88% of first-half revenue. Two customers alone made up about 84% of the quarter. The growth, if durable, points a sub-$70-million-market-cap company at a sector the market prices richly. Whether growth compounds, and whether the company reaches self-funded operations before the dilution overhang bites, are the numbers the rest of the year decides.
