Adobe Q2 FY2026 Earnings: AI ARR Triples and Targets Rise While the Multiple Stays Stuck

Adobe's fiscal second quarter arrived with the company deep in its most consequential transition: proving that its own AI products can grow the business as fast as generative models threaten to commoditize the creative software that built it. The quarter under attack was strong almost by any operating measure. Revenue hit a record $6.62 billion, up 13% year over year, and the company raised its full-year revenue and non-GAAP earnings-per-share targets on the back of AI-led demand. The headline AI metric moved the needle: so-called AI-first annualized recurring revenue tripled year over year and crossed $500 million, a level the company had not yet credibly shown. Business Professionals & Consumers subscription revenue grew 16%, Creative & Marketing Professionals grew 13%. On the income statement, non-GAAP operating income reached $2.95 billion.

The second read is the valuation, and it refuses to cooperate. The stock closed August 11 at $263.71, down roughly 23% over the trailing fifty-two weeks, with a market capitalization near $105 billion. That prices Adobe at roughly 15 times trailing GAAP earnings and about 11 times the company's own raised fiscal 2026 non-GAAP earnings guidance - a multiple that would historically have been unthinkable for a business growing mid-teens at a 40%+ operating margin. The gap between what the numbers did and what the market is willing to pay is the entire story of this report: a company executing on its AI pivot even as investors keep discounting the whole category.

And then there are the quarter's operational wrinkles, which are the subtext under the beat. Adobe closed its largest acquisition in the period, spending $1.87 billion on Semrush in late April to enter search and agentic-Optimization markets. Its CFO departed days after the print, replaced on an interim basis. And the company took a $70 million goodwill impairment against its shrinking legacy Publishing & Advertising unit - a small charge, but an honest admission of where one part of this business is heading. Stripped of those items, the quarter is clean growth on a subscription base with record cash flow. The question ahead is whether the multiple finally moves with the fundamentals.
