ProFrac Q2 2026 Earnings: Pricing Talks, the Balance Sheet Answers

Published August 12, 202615 min read·TickerFile Research · ProFrac Holding Corp. (ACDC)

ProFrac Holding, the Wilks-family frac, proppant, manufacturing, and chemistry platform, delivered the strongest sequential quarter of its downcycle in the period ended June 30, 2026 - and chose the same week to hand both the chief executive seat and the chairman's gavel to a single family member. There are two ways to read the quarter. The first reads as a company still losing money: revenue of $498.1 million, a GAAP net loss of $74.7 million, and $0.45 of GAAP diluted losses per share. The second reads as an inflection arriving just as the market for hydraulic fracturing starts to tighten: revenue up 11% from the first quarter, Adjusted EBITDA up 28% sequentially to $69.4 million at a 14% margin, free cash flow improving to an $8 million draw, and management calling for higher stimulation pricing in the third quarter with an early RFP season pointing to equipment tightness in 2027. Both readings are true, and the tension between them is the whole investment case.

The business that matters most is the largest one. Stimulation Services - the frac fleet - earned $39.3 million of Adjusted EBITDA at a 9% margin, up sharply from the prior quarter, on demand for higher-specification, non-diesel pumping capacity that the industry's years of attrition have left scarce. The chemistry segment, Flotek, compounded it with $19.1 million at a 19% margin. The other two segments - proppant and manufacturing - are mostly feeding the fleet internally and are not the story. The story is a fleet operator at the bottom of a cycle whose pricing is finally bending upward while it carries roughly $1.08 billion of net debt and generates negative free cash flow. At a $959 million market capitalization, the market is pricing ProFrac at a discount to every cleaned-up frac peer - a bet that the pricing tightening outstrips the leverage and the cash burn before the cycle turns down again.
