Aardvark Therapeutics, a San Diego clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that listed on Nasdaq in February 2025 at $16.00 per share, reported a quiet but consequential second quarter. There is no product revenue, no gross profit, and no operating leverage to discuss; the company reported a net loss of $14.4 million for the three months ended June 30, 2026, essentially identical to the $14.4 million loss in the year-ago quarter, on a research and development base of $10.5 million that is now $2.7 million below the year-ago quarter because the Phase 3 HERO trial of lead asset ARD-101 in Prader-Willi syndrome hyperphagia is paused and then terminated. The cash position of $73.9 million as of June 30, 2026, the $400 million effective Form S-3 shelf that became effective April 3, 2026, and the $150 million at-the-market facility with Piper Sandler put the runway into late 2027 against a current market capitalization of roughly $157 million at the August 11, 2026 closing price of $7.19. The thesis is binary and has reset to a near zero, in our view: the FDA placed a full clinical hold on ARD-101 in May 2026, Aardvark terminated both the HERO Phase 3 and the open-label extension trial in June 2026, and management is now running an unblinded data review of both trials in the third quarter of 2026 to inform next steps for the program. The next data point that the equity is being priced against is the third-quarter 2026 unblinded-data readout, and the falsifiable clock is whether the totality of the safety and efficacy data supports a redesigned Phase 3 or a path back to the FDA on a refined protocol.
